About Paul Leach LRPS Dip A D
History
My introduction to photography was during my childhood. My father, an actor and pastel artist, gave me loads of advice on the technicalities of colour, light and composition.

I attended Wakefield College of Art in the early 70’s and subsequently did three years at Bradford College of Art where I qualified in 3d design. I became a licentiate of the Royal Photography Society in 2000. Finally in 2003 I found myself in a position to commit myself to photography.
I have described my style as opportunistic. I photograph things that interest me. It can be all manner of things. Often it is colour, texture and composition that catch my attention. Perhaps this is why so many of my images have a strong graphic elements often flattening perspective to isolate the graphic elements. Many images are of places and objects, rather than people. Where people do feature they tend to be graphic elements in a composition rather than portraits. This is not to say I don’t like people. My friends are varied and valued. Photographically I prefer candid images rather than traditional portraiture as an unguarded moment often reveals so much more about the person’s real character and personality.
My work within the stock photography industry has given me the opportunity to indulge my many passions. France is the main one. I love the country and its people. I visit France as often as my work schedule will allow. Each region has its own identity and offers a wealth of opportunity to create compelling images.
